Product overview
Chemlok 205GB is a solvent-based substrate primer for use beneath compatible Chemlok covercoat adhesives. It serves as the primer layer in a primer-and-covercoat rubber bonding system.
For selected unvulcanized nitrile rubber (NBR) compounds, it can also be used as a one-coat treatment during vulcanization.
Key benefits
- Works with multiple compatible Chemlok covercoats.
- Provides a one-coat option for selected NBR compounds.
- Can be applied by brush, dip, spray, or roll coat.
- Supports environmental durability when used with the appropriate covercoat.
Typical applications
- Primer layer in rubber-to-metal bonding systems.
- One-coat bonding of selected unvulcanized NBR compounds.
- Stainless steel, aluminum, brass, and other supported nonferrous substrates.
Application guidance
Remove oil, grease, rust, scale, and oxide coatings from the metal by suitable chemical or mechanical preparation. Apply by brush, dip, spray, or roll coat. A typical dry-film thickness is 5.1–10.2 μm (0.2–0.4 mil). Allow the primer to dry before applying a compatible covercoat.
