Product overview
Chemlok 207GB is a solvent-based metal primer used with Chemlok covercoat adhesives. It forms the primer layer in rubber-to-metal bonding systems, including systems using Chemlok 6000-series and 230-series covercoats.
Substrates and system performance
Suitable substrates include aluminum and cold-rolled steel prepared by mechanical or chemical treatment. Used with a suitable Chemlok covercoat, it provides resistance to hot aqueous ethylene glycol exposure in rubber-to-metal assemblies.
The covercoat is selected for the rubber compound and service conditions; Chemlok 207GB serves as the metal primer in the bonding system.
Preparing and applying the primer
Clean the metal thoroughly to remove protective oil, cutting oil and grease. Remove rust and oxide layers by an appropriate chemical or mechanical process.
Stir the primer thoroughly before use and maintain enough agitation to keep the solids uniformly suspended. Spray, dip or brush to produce an even film without runs. The dry-film thickness should be 5.1–10.2 μm.
