Product overview
Chemlok 238(NW) is a solvent-based covercoat adhesive for bonding non-polar elastomers to one another or to metals and other rigid substrates primed with Chemlok 205.
Elastomers and bonding arrangements
Applications include butyl and EPDM compounds. The elastomer range also includes NR, IR, SBR, BR, CR, NBR and CSM. It can bond uncured rubber to cured rubber and cured elastomers to one another, including similar or different compositions.
When a primer is used, allow it to dry thoroughly before applying Chemlok 238(NW).
Mixing and coating
Clean and prepare the substrate to remove oil, grease, rust and oxide layers. Mix the adhesive to a uniform consistency. If dilution is required, xylene or toluene can be used; dilution increases settling, so agitation remains important.
Apply a uniform film by brush, dip or spray. The general dry-film thickness is 10.2–25.4 μm. For bonding cured rubber, 25.4–38.1 μm is normally used.
