Product overview

Chemlok 6016 is a solvent-based adhesive for bonding elastomers to metal during rubber vulcanization. It can be used as a one-coat treatment or as a covercoat over Chemlok 205 or 207 primer when increased protection is needed in demanding environments.

It uses a non-chlorinated solvent system and forms a continuous film. Its slow evaporation rate suits spray application.

Compatible elastomers

Natural rubber (NR), polyisoprene (IR), styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR), polybutadiene (BR), polychloroprene (CR), nitrile rubber (NBR), butyl rubber (IIR) and EPDM.

Coating system and application

Use Chemlok 6016 dry-film thickness
One-coat treatment 17.8–25.4 μm
Covercoat over a primer 15.2–20.3 μm

The covercoat value applies to the Chemlok 6016 layer, not the total primer-and-covercoat thickness.

Remove oils, grease, rust and oxide layers from the metal before coating. Stir thoroughly before use and maintain agitation during application. Apply by spray, brush or dip. If dilution is needed, use xylene or toluene and take care to keep solids suspended, as dilution accelerates settling. Chemlok 6016 cures during rubber vulcanization.
