Bonding applications
Chemlok 603 is a solvent-based, one-coat surface treatment for the following material combinations:
- Vulcanized medium-high-acrylonitrile nitrile rubber (MH-NBR) to vulcanized MH-NBR.
- Vulcanized MH-NBR to metal.
- Aluminum to nylon resin.
It supports room-temperature bonding, with heat available to accelerate curing. Most applications require a single coat. Confirm the joining and curing conditions for the actual materials.
Application and drying
Clean metal surfaces to remove oils, grease, rust and oxide layers. Stir thoroughly before use and maintain agitation to keep solids suspended. If dilution is necessary, use methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) or methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK); dilution accelerates settling.
Apply by brush, dip or spray to a dry-film thickness of 6–20 μm. Allow at least 30 minutes at room temperature for drying, ensuring that all solvent has evaporated. Hot-air ovens or tunnels can shorten drying time. This drying period is not a specified full-cure time.
