Product overview
Chemlok 6253 is a solvent-based adhesive for bonding elastomers to metal. It can be used as a one-coat system or as a covercoat over Chemlok 205 or Chemlok 207 primer when increased environmental protection is needed.
The two-coat system provides resistance to harsh environments and prebake exposure. Chemlok 6253 can accommodate extended prebake under moderate-temperature processing conditions; the appropriate cycle depends on the application.
Compatible elastomers
Compatible elastomers include natural rubber (NR), polyisoprene (IR), styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR), polybutadiene (BR), polychloroprene (CR), nitrile rubber (NBR), butyl rubber (IIR) and EPDM.

The covercoat value describes the Chemlok 6253 layer, not the combined thickness of primer and covercoat.
Clean and prepare the metal to remove oils, grease, rust and oxide layers. Stir thoroughly before use and keep solids suspended during application. Apply by brush, spray or dip to obtain a uniform film without runs. If dilution is necessary, use xylene or toluene. Chemlok 6253 cures during rubber vulcanization.
