Product overview
Chemlok 6253GB is a solvent-based adhesive for bonding elastomers to metal. Most applications use a single coat; for greater environmental protection, it can be applied over Chemlok 205GB or Chemlok 207GB primer.
Materials and process fit
The elastomer range includes NR, IR, SBR, BR, CR, NBR, IIR, EPDM, CPE and CSM. In a two-coat system, the adhesive combines environmental resistance with tolerance of extended prebaking at moderate temperatures.
Chemlok 6253GB cures during rubber vulcanization. Select the coating arrangement and molding cycle for the rubber compound and service conditions.
Application guidance
Clean the metal surface to remove oils, grease, rust and oxide layers. Thoroughly stir before use and maintain sufficient agitation to keep the solids uniformly suspended. Brush, spray or dip to form a uniform film without runs.
For a one-coat system, use a dry-film thickness of 20.3–25.4 μm. When applying as a covercoat over a primer, use 15.2–20.3 μm.
