Product overview
Flocklok 852F is a single-coat adhesive for bonding polyester or nylon flock to elastomer substrates. It provides good abrasion resistance on flocked substrates, performs across a wide range of cure conditions and cures quickly at elevated temperature.
Compatible materials and processes
- Flock: polyester or nylon.
- Elastomers: SBR, CR, NBR, and EPDM.
- Processing: directly on the production line or in a separate off-line operation.
Application guidance
Remove dirt, rubber bloom, processing oils, mold-release material, and other contaminants. The adhesive can be supplied by peristaltic pump or pressurized vessel. A typical wet-film thickness is 95–145 μm (3.7–5.7 mil), equivalent to 51–76 μm (2–3 mil) dry film. Thicker films may be required depending on profile temperature and flocking efficiency.
Elevated-temperature curing is required to optimize adhesion to EPDM elastomers. A typical cure cycle in a forced hot-air oven is 2 minutes at 204°C (400°F). The cure cycle depends on time and temperature; confirm the conditions for the specific substrate and process.
