LORD JMC-700K Protective Coating for Magnets

Coating purpose

LORD JMC-700K is a thermal-cure epoxy coating that provides magnet corrosion and moisture protection. The coating also provides electrical insulation. The recommended dry-film thickness is 10–100 μm.

Preparation and coating process

Remove oil, dust, rust and other contamination from the surface. Mix thoroughly before dilution, transfer, spraying or dipping, and keep the solids uniformly dispersed during use.

Apply by spray or dip. If dilution is needed, use JMC-700ST thinner or methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) in accordance with the applicable technical data sheet. Add the diluent slowly while stirring to avoid local over-dilution and separation. Before spraying, filtration through a 500-mesh screen is recommended to help maintain coating appearance.

Build up thicker films in successive layers. Flash off the solvent and heat-cure each layer before applying the next. After the final application, carry out solvent flash-off followed by final heat curing. Confirm the thickness of each layer, temperatures and holding times against the applicable technical data sheet, taking part geometry and actual heating conditions into account.
