Chemlok 6100GB Rubber-to-Metal Covercoat

Product overview

Chemlok 6100GB is a solvent-based covercoat for bonding elastomers to metal in combination with Chemlok 205GB or Chemlok 207GB primer. With these primers, it bonds to mechanically or chemically prepared cold-rolled steel and aluminum and provides resistance to salt spray.

Compatible elastomers and coating features

Suitable elastomers include natural rubber (NR), polyisoprene (IR), styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR), polybutadiene (BR), polychloroprene (CR), nitrile rubber (NBR), butyl rubber (IIR) and EPDM.

The coating forms a continuous film and resists sweeping during molding. It accommodates a range of processing conditions, including extended prebake. Confirm prebake conditions for the actual part and molding process.

Application guidance

Clean and prepare the metal before applying the primer. Allow the primer to dry thoroughly before applying Chemlok 6100GB.

Stir Chemlok 6100GB thoroughly before use and maintain agitation during application to keep the solids suspended. Apply by brush, dip or spray to form a uniform coating without runs. The dry-film thickness should be 12.7–25.4 μm. The adhesive cures during rubber vulcanization.
