Chemlok 205GB Rubber-to-Metal Bonding Primer

Chemlok 205GB is a solvent-based primer applied to metals and other rigid substrates beneath compatible Chemlok covercoat adhesives in rubber bonding systems.

For selected unvulcanized nitrile rubber (NBR) compounds, it can also be used as a one-coat treatment during vulcanization.

The bonding system provides good environmental resistance when used with an appropriate Chemlok covercoat.

Compatible covercoats include Chemlok 6108GB.

Metal substrates include steel, stainless steel, aluminum and brass.

Remove oil, grease, rust, scale, and oxide coatings from the metal by suitable chemical or mechanical preparation. Apply by brush, dip, spray, or roll coat. A typical dry-film thickness is 5.1–10.2 μm (0.2–0.4 mil).

Use the high end of this range on grit-blasted substrates, when used with Chemlok 6000 series covercoats, or for one-coat bonding of selected NBR compounds. For other applications, use the low end of the range. Allow the primer to dry before applying a compatible covercoat.
